Adams 12 Five Star Schools STEM Lab project was awarded the ENR Mountain States Best Project Award in the K-12 Education Category. Envision Mechanical Engineers, Inc. was proud to be a part of the team for this project which included a multi-phased, occupied renovation and additions to a 46 year old building. The project followed the Collaborative for High Performance School (CHPS) guidelines and included unique design and sustainability features including areas of the building being used as a teaching tool. New air handling systems were specified to replace the outdated unit ventilators and aged heating and ventilating units. A new high efficiency boiler plant was specified and sequentially installed to align with the phased construction. A new chilled water system was designed to provide cooling to a majority of the facility. New infrastructure was completed early and a fire sprinkler system was specified to provide coverage throughout the building as construction progressed through each of the building phases.
